1. OPEN ACCESS WITH NO INFORMATION REQUIREMENT
To access and make use of the Council for Biotechnology Information’s Web site, it is not necessary that you provide any information or complete any registration.
The Council for Biotechnology Information (the "Council") presently has no plans to collect or disseminate personal information from the users of our Web site.
2. USES OF INFORMATION
From time to time, the council may gather information about how many users, in the aggregate, visit the Web site for our internal use, however, such statistical information will not personally identify you without your consent. Please be advised that if you contact us by e-mail, we may retain your e-mail address only for purposes of response, follow-up communications and updates. The council provides users with the opportunity to opt-out of receiving certain communications from us. The council does not sell user lists and will not, to the extent feasible, disclose any information pertaining to its users.

This information may be used to measure usage, number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed, etc. We may use this information to measure usage and improve the content of our site. 5. HOW YOUR INFORMATION WILL BE PROTECTED

The council does not, however, use encryption to protect data that you submit to the Web Site. Information that you submit travels through the Internet and becomes public information. 6. COUNCIL AND MINORS
The council does not knowingly market the Web site or collect information from minors. If a minor will be using the Web Site, it is the legal guardian’s responsibility to instruct such minor not to submit any personal information by way of e-mail or otherwise.
